I used to use game maker when I used windows xp but I have a new computer and game maker has problems with 64 bit vista. Does anyone know of any good 2d video game creation software. I would be willing to get something that costs some $$ but nothing outrageous like $700 (more than my laptop).

The unfastened version (demo version) of Gamemaker is the main trouble-free. the only dilemma is that it has the gamemaker variety once you start up your activity (to my information). different then that, there is RPG maker. If that's no longer stable sufficient and you elect to bypass into 3-D stuff, seem into mods for video games. time-honored ones are 0.5 existence and The Elders Scrolls.
Notepad, knowledge of programming and knowledge of game creation is the best way to go. (The better games aren't made with "game creation software", they're hand-written.)
