In many ways, yes. You'll note that in different places, the people are more likely to believe a certain way.
In the middle east, most people are Muslim. In the far east, many people are Buddhist or Hindu. In the west, many people are Christian.
In my area (Virginia) not only are most people Christian, but most Christians are Baptist.

NO. Religion is a spiritual issue. Those who think it is cultural miss the entire point. Since all people are born with the capacity for spiritual life, it is universal. The fact that some people do not cultivate or develop this part of themselves is no indication most don't. Most do in one way or another. Those who don't happen as a rule to be very vocal about it. That's all.
