-Snow Leopard
There is no such thing as a white leopard, although it is possible that some people refer to the snow leopard as a 'white leopard' since that is its coloring.

The black panther is the same thing as a black leopard. "Panther" is just another name referring to a big cat. Its like in America, when people refer to a 'mountain lion' as a 'cougar' or 'puma'. They are all the same thing, just different names.

Snow Leopard Vs Leopard
Jeff Sadler
The snow leopard lives in the high elevations of the Himalayas. It has special adaptations for the cold such as a very thick coat, a bushy tail, small head and very small ears to conserve heat. A white leopard would be an albinistic leopard. Snow leopards are a mottled grey.

This is labeled as a white leopard in one place and on another site as a white jaguar (which it is NOT) To me it appears to be a cross of at least two leopard species (yes they can hybridize in captivity even though in the wild they would never meet) I think it may be an african or asian leopard crossed with a snow leopard. However it is white. It has too narrow of a tail and bigger ears and head than a snow leopard.

Once all of the black leopards, cougars, and jaguars were thought to be the same species and were referred to as black panthers. Scientists realized that this however was incorrect fairly quickly but public belief had already been set and the misconception has carried on to this day. Now it is realized that all three cats have a black form, which is no different from having a two different dogs of the same type that are two different colors. All three are often commonly referred to as black panthers when they are in their black form. To tell them apart you need to look at the body and head shape. With practice it can be done fairly easily.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) and the snow leopard (Uncia uncia) are different species. A white leopard would be an albino - albinism is a genetic condition that results in the animal lacking all pigmentation. Black panther is just the name commonly used for melanistic leopards - leopards with a genetic condition called melanism, which is basically the reverse of albinism (the animal has an excess of the dark pigment melanin). So a black panther and a black leopard are the same thing. Note that some people also refer to melanistic jaguars as panthers, though this is not technically correct.
