my dog has been burying food when i give it to him while he is out side. like today i went out and gave him a piece of cake, and he went down buried it then came back for more, so i gave him another piece then he ate that one. so i was just wondering why he barres some things but not others.

i understand that cake and other human foods are not good for dogs. in moderation though it hasnt effected my 15 year alstrailian shepperd whom has been fed human food her whole life and is still in good health at 15 years old. a small piece of cake isnt goingt o kill your dog infact they might just enjoy it.

To save it for later, of course.
When I give my dog meat, she buries it, digs it up, buries it again somewhere else, digs it up and then eats it. It's quite entertaining to watch.
ok one number one thing don't give them cake especially if it has sugar or chocolate any thing what we humans eat because it can cause major difficulties the reason why dogs bury what ever you give them is because they don't want other dogs to mess around with their personal things they will do that if they stop using or eating whatever they have. And also that they will do that if thier are going to save it for later
To save it for later, but, it isnt a good idea to feed your dog "human food". Some is just bad for them, like the sugar; some can be deadly for them to eat like grapes, raisins and chocolate. There are others too. You need to just give the dog its own dog food and dog treats.
Why would you give your dog something that's so bad for it, like cake that is filled with sugar? I suggest that you learn to take better care of your poor dog. He's burying it because he's smarter than you and knows that it's bad for him.
