I am curious. How does a person know if he OR SHE, has been called to preach and/or pastor a church?

No one has ever been 'called'. That is just a bullshit line that's been used by those con men for years.

whoa whoa whoa. To the dude above me. There are women preachers. And there are some, pardon my language, some damn good women preachers. The idea that women could not teach men is strictly a cultural commandment. Think about it. In the time and place, it would not have been appropriate for them to even consider giving power to instruct men to women. But we do that now because we realize that Men and Women are joint heirs in the kingdom of God. In fact, women sometimes are better at conveying the message of the Gospel because....

1. they are articulate
2. They are compassionate.

basically to answer the question though (sorry about the rant) You will know if you are called to preach through prayer and also through really looking at yourself and your skills and deciding what is best for you.

For me, I just feel drawn to the ministry and to preaching to youth specifically. I have a heart for the church because it has been the biggest impact on my life and it is the greatest source of love I have seen.

I'm thankful you have given your life to Jesus—and I'm thankful also for the burden you have for those who don't know Him. Ask God to guide you as you make decisions about your future, and if it's His will for you to be a pastor or evangelist, or to serve Him in some other way, He will make it clear. As you consider this, ask others to help you evaluate your spiritual gifts.

At the same time, not everyone is called to be a preacher—and you can serve Christ no matter what or where He calls you. Jesus' words apply to every Christian: "You are the light of the world. ... Let your light shine before men" (Matthew 5:14, 16).

I think if the Lord keeps putting it on your heart constantly, it is a safe bet that you are being called. Sometimes we ignore the prodding thinking it is us thinking it up. It usually is a very strong tugging by the Holy Spirit. The Lord equips and opens doors for that person. That is the way I see it. More importantly, the person receiving these thoughts should pray, pray, pray, and test the spirits to be sure these leadings are indeed from God.

You can take that she out of the sentence. And only God can supernaturally call someone. But many preach without being called. As long as they don't lie and say I've been called, it may be positive. But do know that preachers are judged more strict than anyone else. That is why I couldn't be a preacher. Unless of course God called me to do so. Only God calls.
