How do I move people from my email contacts to my Messenger contacts?

I have several of my email contacts in an area labeled Friends, and others who I want in that category but who are in the category Contacts. How do I move them to the friends one?

Just go to your Yahoo Messenger and click on Contacts and then click on import contacts and click from whatever site you wish to import your contacts from. It will give you the choice who you wish to move over etc. If you need to manage where your friends go, etc. Go to contacts and click on manage groups and that will do it.
