Every time my husband and I get into an argument, he tells me I am not worthy of having his mother's favorite ring and asks for it back. What do you think of this, should he, or should he not ask for it back? Technically, SHE gave it to me right before she passed, but he feels she did, only because I am with him.

Your husband is acting very immature in doing this to you.
It doesn't matter what is going on between the two of you or why she gave it to you...it is still yours....no matter what.
That is the point......she wanted YOU to have it....NOT your husband. It was a gift and an inheritance....cherish it and tell your husband to grow up and stop "blackmailing" with the gift his mother gave to you.
Does he want it back to give the next....."wife"? Why would he lower himself to such a level of indecency and cruelty? If you don't care about the ring....than give it back and tell him that you never want to see it again....or put it in a safety deposit box for your child.

Your husband sounds like a materialistic person and he finds putting a price on behavior a proper thing to do. He measures your conduct by the ring. That is so immature and ignorant.
I am sure if you stop cooking for him, he will take your car away claiming you are not worthy to drive a car. Are you listening to what this man is saying? Its not about the ring that concerns me, is that he must be like that in all areas of your marriage, do this or else. Very manipulative on his part if you ask me.

What is the value of the ring. The value of a wife is about $48,000 US dollars a year - that is what it would cost him to have someone else perform the same duties you do. Unless the ring is worth over a million dollars, he has no complaint.

I think that you have the right to keep it if you want to, but I would give the ring to him. If he offered to give it back to me later, I would refuse it and tell him that I'm not playing this game.

Well for her to give it to you obviously means she liked you right? Was he in the room when she gave it to you? If he wasn't then he has obsoletely no right at all! But either way she did give it to you... It is now yours! You can do with it as you wish, I would suggest hiding it if he wants it back that badly...
