I have a small coin collection just for fun and decided to look up one. I picked my '71 Ike 1 dollar coin. I was checking values and i was wondering what the difference between a 1971 and a 1971-D is?
First of all PCGS is not the place to look up a true value. The site has mint state coins that they grade and it is their opinion as to it's value. The 1971 with no mint mark was minted at the Philadelphia mint. The mintage is 47,799,000. The D stands for the Denver mint, mintage was 68,587,424. The mint mark if any is above the date to the right, under the neck. The mintage's are high and circulated Ike dollar have no collector premiums. Only the ones in high mint state do. Ike dollars have really not caught on by the collecting community. There is no date that is really rare is one reason. As time goes by they will catch on, for they are the last of the large size dollars. At this point it would be best to just hold onto it and wait a few years.
Sorry to assert those money have little or no value over face. those you observed on eBay have been in all possibility evidence instruments (money especially minted for creditors. they're greater high quality than money minted for conventional stream). i anticipate your money have been in stream. Your mom purely stored them out while she occurred to verify one, good? those money have been in no way standard and have been in elementary terms minted some years interior the 1970's. good success promoting them for even $a million.50 each and each! in case you don't get any takers, try $40 5 - this is a sprint over $a million.10 each and each. I are awaiting, although, you will finally end up taking them to the monetary organisation and purely changing them for a one-on-one commerce for paper expenses.
