I just got a used transmission put in my 97 Geo Prism and it is not shifting properly please help?

My transmission broke and I had it replaced with a used one that was in good condition. Now when I drive it seems to shift to late. What would cause this? Or if I let off the gas and then hit it again it will shift usually sooner than if I just accelerate more. Any help is appreciated :]

check the fluid level
its souns like it low on fluid

used but good? be carfull on buying used parts espeacialy from a junk yard
