How old was your baby when she started to take regular morning naps?
My little guy is nearly 4 months old and is already fighting sleep. He will very rarely sleep longer than 15 minutes or so at a time. Just wondering when the first morning nap begins to happen. I am reluctant to let him cry it out as he's still so young but I know I need to be getting him into a regular sleeping pattern at some point. Where are you at with your baby's naps?

Some kids do not take naps. My son who is almost five now has never been a nap taker. I would make him lay down to rest during the day even as an infant, but I never forced him to sleep. If he was tired I would tell him it was rest time and it really worked for us. Normally 30 minutes of him in bed would give him enough time to regroup.
At about 5 months my daughter started taking a morning nap. She sleeps from 8pm to 8am so I have never felt the need to put her down for two naps. It wasn't easy though. I don't think napping comes naturally to all babies. I didn't want to leave her crying forever either so what I did was put her in bed, sing, and read to her. If she was still crying, I left and let her cry for no more than fifteen minutes before I would come back. Eventually she got to the point where she would go down for a nap without a peep. And that's what she does now. If you do it that way, the babies have a chance to self soothe but at the same time they know their mommy is still there for them.
My daughter has had a pretty consistent sleep/nap schedule since she was around 2 or 3 months. A nice solid nap from about 10-12 or 1-3, an evening nap from 7-8, in bed at 11 and up at about 8 with about 2 nursing sessions during the night. Sometimes the morning/afternoon nap is shorter, usually if it is she'll take a mini-nap about an hour after she wakes up from the main nap. She put herself into that schedule, I never did anything to force her or keep her into any sort of sleep groove.
My little one is almost 3 months and we started to take a nap in the morning just couple weeks ago. She would wake up around 6 a.m., eat, play for about an hour and a half and goes back to sleep. She won't sleep for more than a few min. sometimes which really frustrates me! But the best sleep she gets is outside, in the park or even on the balcony in her bassinet. The fresh air is the answer! :)
At 6 months my son slept through the night and took a morning and afternoon nap for about 45 minutes each. At 10 months my son dropped the morning nap and took one mid-morning nap for 1 hour. Now, at 13 months, he takes a 2 hour nap from 12-2 and sleeps from 8PM to 6AM straight through.
