Why do they say not to have more then one sex partner on mirena iud? Is it ok that i did?

Ok I know it sounds like a silly question, and it makes me seem trashy to say I have had multiple sex partners while on it. Only two for the past few months. And I have been wondering why I heard not to have more than one partner while using it? And is it unsafe really? If it is unsafe is it unsafe to your health? How? Or does it just make it more possible to end up PG, or both?

It will still protect you against pregnancy, no matter how many partners you have. The reason they say on the commercial that it's for monogomus relationships is because they are assuming you are not using a condom as well. If you have multiple partners, you should be using a birth control that will also protect you from STD's, which Mirena doesn't do.

If you're not in a monagmous relationship use a condom. Mirena IUD won't protect you from STD's.
