math help.........................?

how do you multiply the square root of 3 by its self ....it cant be a decimal answer please help...thank you

The answer is 3.

You can see this two ways.

√3 * √3 = √(3 * 3) = √9 = 3

√(3^2) means the root and the power cancel out, and the number under the radical just comes out again, since root and power are inverses -- and will multiply to 1 times the number.

The square root of 3 times the square root of 3=square root of 3 squared.

The squared cancels out the square root and the answer is 3.
