Should everyone be covered with national health care?
Do you think intervenes drug users should be covered? What about the alcoholics that live under the bridges? What about the prostitutes? How much will it cost to cover these people? Should you pay for it? Group health coverage through an employer is based on the fact that the people that are being covered are healthy enough to hold a job! So, group health care doesn't cover these type of people. How much will it cost to cover them!!!!!!! Will someone give me a number!!!!
Yeah, why have sick people at all, get cancer and go away. If they can't work, fire them, that way the business's insurance won't go up either. Lets really go all out, don't expect to get coverage when you get sick, just send money to the insurance companies. Why stop at drug users or alcoholics under a bridge, many high functioning alkys live well, and have cars that they get into accidents with, lets let them lie bleeding on the side of the road if they don't pass a blood test when the ambulance comes. How about those skiers? Do you know how many of them break legs or hit trees? Should we save people who can't avoid trees? And mountain climbers, no more care for them when they get lost and lose toes. Runners and joggers? They tend to need knee replacements much earlier than the general population, no more for them either. Fat people? Enough said. Skinny people, could be anorexia....banned from care. Pregnant women...major costs, sometimes two or three times. And who does that lady with eighteen, soon to be nineteen kids have for an insurance company? Lets just cover pregnancy once, maybe twice, after that how about home delivery. Why worry only about a certain element, we all have bodies, we all to some degree abuse them, whether its too much or not enough exercise or food or whatever.
First of all, many of those people you are already paying for indirectly because when they stumble into the emergency room the hospital has to adjust their costs to cover their care. The increase is passed on to you and your insurance company (who in turn raises your group rates). Many unemployed also receive Medicaid (Title 19..whatever) which you also pay for. We ALL are protected by a fire department. We ALL are protected by the services of the police department and emergency medical services and we pay for it through our tax dollars. And you you still pay to fight the fires at the "drug addicts" house. When the prostitute is beaten the police help her. Why are you not griping about that? Personally, I'd love to live in a society where the alcoholic under the bridge can get the help they need, or the drug addict can have access to rehab. I think it's pretty pathetic that there are individuals who are willing to create legislation based out of some twisted sense of personal SPITE. We are one of the wealthiest nations on the planet and it is a sad statement that we can't ( or rather) won't foot the bill to make it one of the healthiest. Everyone benefits when healthcare is affordable and accessible for every citizen. You benefit when the alcoholic gets help. You benefit when drug addict gets treatment, and you even benefit when the prostitute gets regular health screening. So get off your high horse because you don't get to administer some sort or morality litmus test to decide who "deserves" not to be sick.
I feel all people should be insured for their health. I feel all people should pay a percentage of thier income to cover its cost. I also feel that people who are street people should have to report to a place and be given gov work to pay for thier health care as well as all immigrants that are illegal no one that way has to feel they are paying for someone elses insurance,
I think health care should be a right. Everyone deserves good medical coverage. If death row prisoners get healthcare, why can't the homeless and jobless and those who really can't afford it, get it? It's outrageously expensive as it is. In order to get it affordable, you have to be willing to die for your country in the military. (I'm a military spouse)
