'Why aren't you 'into' me?' Well....?

The guy I've been crushing on for ages turned me down as nicely as possible yesterday saying stuff like "You're great and I admire/respect you so much, but I just don't have those feelings for you" and "I hadn't ever thought of you that way before you told me you liked me."

In my experience, whenever someone says "you're awesome, but I don't think of you that way", it's just a nice, polite way of avoiding the real, deep-down reason for rejection, which is usually something like "I don't find you attractive" or "I can't ever imagine myself with you" - things that are honestly hurtful but that we can't help entering into our calculations.

In your past, what have your reasons been for not being "into" someone who, at least on paper, you should have been crazy about?

I just dont "feel it " for them.

Whether its because I physically dont find them attractive or emotionally it doesnt go beyond friendship in my heart with them

sometimes people just don't connect on those romantic levels, or ar least one person out of the two doesn't. it does not mean you are "ugly" give me a break, you know how many people are in the world? not everyone is for everyone.
