those particular bolts are very tight, they even make a special pulley holding tool to help remove it, usually you will need a very strong 1/2 inch impact gun. another way is to get a long breaker bar, set it under the car on the ground making sure no fingers are anywhere, then have someone crank the engine with the key, it should bust the bolt lose.

Anticlockwise. The biggest problem is loosening it without the engine turning.
A rattle gun is one way. Otherwise, perhaps shocking the spanner or socket with a hammer might do it.
If all else fails, remove the starter motor and block it from turning with a large screwdriver or pinch/ pry bar engaged in the ring gear.
The rattle gun is the best way.

the opposite of the way the pully rotates

counter clock wise. Its real tight and my need to be heated.
