In Ubuntu, browser crashes watching youtube every time.?

I do have an older computer, and this is a minimal installation of Hardy Heron, but everything else works. I thought it was a problem with Firefox, so I replaced it with Epiphany...still crashes every time. I see the website, and see a spinning circle as the video loads, and that's it...gone. Also, watching other videos on the web, like the news, is like watching a slideshow rather than a movie. What's the deal? Video card?, Driver? Wrong software? How do I proceed? Thanks.

I know whats wrong, you must have installed gnash instead of adobe flash player, try everything to remove gnash and remove all your browsers or reinstall them in synaptic package manager and if that doesn't work, back up and reinstall ubuntu, better yet get the newer ubuntu 9.04 ( has much better driver support and everything works out the box) also in a couple of weeks ubuntu 9.10 will be out, but get 9.04 and next time you go on firefox and a website says you need the following add on to display this, like go on this site www.starterupsteve.com and it will say you need these add ons to watch the content and select adobe flash player and it should work. I made the same mistake before with Gnash and same thing happened.

My guess is that the problem might lie with your GPU or the drivers for it.

Try installing the current version of Firefox using the tarball archive rather than Add/Remove

and each and all the X "sperts" say that IE isn't any sturdy? replace upload-ons to different browsers, with lots of browsers, i desire you have one exact as a default to evade conflict, it is everyone, the main generally used or IE8 because it is the default for the working device. they'll attempt and proportion settings evade if plausible IE and FF are very comparable classes, so as that they'll constantly combat for default prestige? Why you opt for 4 browsers?

Sorry, but Linux doesn't have very good flash support. It's one of the two areas that Windows users have us beat. (Wireless is also a bit dodgy)
