Does this sound like a GOD of Peace, Forgiveness and love?

Why would you put your faith and heart into "someone" so base and vulgar?

"Someone" who created greed, sin, violence and discord?

A "God" who encourages theft, violence and murder?

BEFORE - you bring Satan into the picture and try to blame everything on him.... Remember - WHO created Satan.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21
"Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place."

Excellent, I like debates like this :)

first off:
Yeshuaman you say -
"There are only two ways to go. You can follow Yahveh and be blessed and have eternal salvation, or you can follow the world (satan) and end up in the lake of fire" -

So you're are saying even if I spent my whole life trying to help others, putting other people first all the time and generally being as good as I could be but didn't believe in God I'd still burn in Hell? Seems a little harsh I think? If God is (as the Bible says), forgiving of all sins if you repent, would he still cast me down this this one small thing when a rapist could accend to Heaven if he repented on his deathbed???

Theres more but there are other posts I'd like to repond to - E-mail me if you want a further discussion :) Charliebravozulu@hotmail.co.uk

To Witnessofjesus;

"but i do acknowledge that sometimes WAR is and Killing is necessary for the defens of faith, freedom and family"

So it's ok to Kill someone if they threaten you're beliefs and freedom? Family I can understand to a degree, its a natural state to want to defend what is dear to you but killing? Bizzarly that sounds very similar to the Muslim extremist - You're a non believer so I can slaughter you and rape you women - and before you say...but I didn't mention rape, there's passages in the Bible condoning rape -

Numbers 31:17-18
Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29
If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver.

Again I'd love to go into more detail ( I have been researching this alot recently) but there are other post to reply to - E-mail me if you like - See address above

To Lover of Blue:

"They were hard of heart and preferred to live in grossly sinful ways that was already destroying themselves through sexually transmitted diseases that was affecting both man and beast. God wiping them out was a merciful act; it actually preserved the land and life on earth itself."

Again with the Killing, so am I to take from this that it is ok to kill someone to put them out of their misery if they are sinful in the eyes of the Lord??
So if I see too gay people in the street I can kill them becasue they are sinful? the bible does say to lay with another of the same sex is sinful doesnt it? and while I'm on the subject, even if being gay isn't the natural sense we seem to be geared towards, if god and jesus were trying to spread the word of love, how can love between any 2 consenting people be wrong? It all comes down to people blindly following words written by many people over 1500 years without thought or reason!

Again I can go into more depth so feel free to contact me :)

To KingMR;

"God hates sin. Before Jesus died on the cross, once you sinned you were automatically evil. If a person sinned they were automatically evil and their life was purposeless."

So anyone who died before Jesus and had sinned (even a small sin) would burn in hell? Doesnt sound like the all loving God I was taught about in sunday school as a kid, Another thing -

"It was purposely for the birth of Jesus to save us. Now Jesus has died for all sins that are going to be committed so that we are righteous once we believe in him no matter what we have done or do."

Now do correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to be you are saying Jesus has died fall all our sins we have commited and are to commit, all I need to do is believe in Jesus and I can do what I want? not a good message methinks,

To Wisensmart;

"Reading the Bible is going to help you assimilate who God is and what is His purpose with His creation"

I'm sorry but I have read the Bible and to be quite honest it sickened me in many places, there are passages I can relate to in the way I live my life but there are many (sadly more than the good) which talk about murder, rape, sacrifice (the bloody kind!), and many things I consider myself not a good source to follow.

Again, see address above if you'd like to discuss

To Uncle Thesis;
Sorry I havent got time for you :P

To Brian;

"The Lord refers to destroying the heathens, the non-believers and the pagans to make way for those who love, worship and respect the one true G-d."

Again - Killing!! sorry but I don't think I would be able to follow a god who condones killing of people purly for non believing, would he kill their children also? would it be thier fault their parents didn't bring them up to believe? If he did have Sodom and gamorrah destroyed utterly were there not children living there with their sinful parents?

I guess the point of this post is to provide an argument to people blindly following the bible - Dont get me wrong, I have no problem if someone wants to belive in God, it's when you're following the

You certainly do not understand the bible at all. God created everyone and everything. He could have made us automatically perfect with no evil thoughts or actions, but he chose to create us with choice. Satan found pride against God and God threw him into earth. We hardly know anything about God other than what Jesus has told us about him. We don't know why he threw Satan to the earth. The thing is he gave us dominion over the devil. Jesus said the devil will flee by using the name of Jesus. Satin decided to be complete opposite of God. Everything God stands for he stands complete opposite.

God hates sin. Before Jesus died on the cross, once you sinned you were automatically evil. If a person sinned they were automatically evil and their life was purposeless. Everyone that died in the old testament was so that Jesus could come and save mankind. God flooded the world so that only Noah's bloodline would be in the earth because he was the only righteous person. God never destroyed any righteous people. He only destroyed people if they were evil and preventing Jesus from the earth. He had Abraham and Lott destroy cities so that the evilness wouldn't last. That is God's wrath. It was purposely for the birth of Jesus to save us. Now Jesus has died for all sins that are going to be committed so that we are righteous once we believe in him no matter what we have done or do.

Actually yes. Those who were destroyed had a chance to come to the Living God and join the Israelite nation as some did like Rahab and Uriah and others. They were hard of heart and preferred to live in grossly sinful ways that was already destroying themselves through sexually transmitted diseases that was affecting both man and beast. God wiping them out was a merciful act; it actually preserved the land and life on earth itself.

Also, warfare in those days was based around "gods" it wasn't just an issue of national security or wanting more land. It was like a litmus test saying if my god defeats yours then mine is true and bigger than yours. God didn't have to prove Himself to any person or nation but the fact He did shows He was the Only True God and many heard of His works and came to Him.

Your question insinuates that God is evil and we humans are good, which is exactly what the devil did when he told them the lie in Gen. 3. He insinuated in that lie that God wasn't trustworthy and was holding good things back from them therefore God was bad.

God didn't create greed, sin or murder. He opposes those things that's why HE died on the cross to do away with such things.

Apostle Matthews2009-10-13T19:26:41Z

Actually Yes. But that side of God which most people purposely forget, is that He is a Holy God; a Righteous God, and in Him is no evil.

Yes satan, or lucifer as he was created, was not created to be what he became, but chose to become what he is. He was the highest angel, that created music to worship God. But he wanted to be God, and therefore corrupted himself. SO, no, God did not create satan. He created Lucifer, and Lucifer became satan. just like anakin skywalker who began to help people of a good heart, but allowed his heart to become corrupt. unlike the movie, though, satan will never be turned back to good. he is completely evil; the complete opposite of the Holiness of God.

This brings me to the next point that the passage you are using is God's judgement upon the land for the sins of that people. And if you read through the entire bible, you will see how God gave His people so many blessings, which various groups murdered and stole and enslaved.

The point being, if you're going to follow the Messiah, follow Him wholeheartedly. Don't do it halfway. All or nothing.

AdoreHim2009-10-13T19:20:11Z

I will start out by saying you are right, God created us and Satan. However, God created Lucifer as an angel of light, and he decided to become the Satan of darkness. God created us with free will, so that we could choose to follow Him, and do what is right. We decided that what God told us was not good, so we decided to sin. You know what truly sounds like a God of peace, forgiveness and love? Jesus died on the cross to save us from the sin that we committed. We deserved death for our sin, and we have a choice to choose life through Christ. If we got what we deserved we should not have been given that chance at all.
