The heat energy delivered by the sun dwarfs any heat energy release from hydrocarbon combustion.

The sun delivers about 1300W/m**2 at the edge of the atmosphere. The projected area of the earth is pi*R**2 where R = 6367km
A = pi*(6367e3)**2 = 1.27e14 m**2

P = 1300*1.27e14 = 165,000,000 GW

So, the sun delivers 165,000,000 Gigawatts of energy every second!
