No, they don't draw rodents. Someone keeps a pet of any kind for their own personal reasons. Some people like snakes, some others like blue hair spiders. Everyone who has a pet, keeps that pet because it seems special to them. If you keep a pigeon, you should definitely do some research. One thing, you need to build a big cage for pigeon to live in, preferably outside on a roof or on top of a shed. It make them feel like the tops of the trees. Take you time training your new bird, and after a while you could leave the door open for pigeon to fly around during daytime.
Good luck.

They make wonderful loving pets, and you can let them fly around without fear of them flying off and never coming back. That's something you can't get from a parrot or other exotic cage bird.
They do not attract rodents. Their food might, if seed is left scattered around the cage/loft overnight for a few days. But that is true with all food. Our food attracts anything from mice to raccoons and wild dogs. Dog/cat food will quickly attract skunks and opossums. So there is nothing different with birds. Pigeons are not dirty, and actually love to take baths and will preen their feathers regularly. Street pigeons, like all other feral animals, may be a bit more dirty due to the oils and mess of the city. Pet pigeons on the other hand, given good care, will be as healthy (or healthier!) as the owner him/herself.

Pigeon breeding has been around for 1000's of years all over the continents. Kings and queens and all sorts of people bread them for many different reasons. Pablo Picasso raised fantail pigeons and named his daughter pigeon in his language. There are more than 800 breed of pigeons,
but they all come from the street pigeons you see today. Look up fancy pigeons on google and you too will be hooked what we called pigeon bug. I myself breed Turkish tumblers, serbian highflyers, Uzbek tumblers, barsrawi from Iraq, jacobians. You can fly the high flyers and watch them fly above your house for hours in circles or you can enjoy the coop tumblers do backflips in the air while vertically climbing in the air like a space rocket with back flips, or you can breed Ukrainian sky cutters and enjoy how the hower above the house in one spot like a butterfly. It's truly a kick *** hobby, that teaches you something more of the world which you live in. I hate ignorant *** people that bad mouth pigeons!

pigeons are acutally very smart birds, and a lot of times if a trainer nows he is going to have truble with parrots he might adopt a pigeon, pigeons can actually learn a lot, very fast, and a very kind birds, dont mix them up with the street pigeons. home pigeons are as clean as any other pet, and love there owners, there just like parrots, but i guess they cant talk :)
