allow me to clear something up, this class involves alot of intensive sparring every lesson. i dont think its a great idea to be landing non padded head kicks every day, conditioning is one thing sparring is another.

No offense, but when you get attacked in the streets do you make your attacker wait until you put them on? The better option is to condition. I really thought toughening up was part of MMA training. ...but if you must, the white cloth ones for $10-$15 bucks should be fine. At least that way you get a little conditioning in. If you use great big pillows that soften every blow no matter how hard it is you will never get used to getting hit and taking it which is part of learning how to fight.
Condition your shins on a bag, not on somebody's body.
You can get shin guards at any MMA store or MMA website. Any that you slip over your ankle and use the velcro wrap to tie around your calf is fine. Make sure you get a good foot guard because that sucks when you hit someone with your foot.
