Christians, when you say it takes time through reading the Bible and praying to come to know God...?

...isn't it possible that what you're "coming to know" is actually just an idea of God you're forming for yourself?

"Reading the Bible" isn't the way to get saved. Only by having faith in Jesus will you get saved and when you believe this Jesus, who is God, will form a relationship with you. Please pray a sincere prayer with all of your heart admitting to Jesus you are a sinner. Have full faith that His blood pays off all of your sins and accept His gift of everlasting life. I pray that God blesses you with peace. Amen.

Jesus is God and the Bible contains the truth.

It would be difficult to explain everything in a short answer.

I would suggest you visit the below website. You will get all the answers, for the below questions and many more.

1) Did Jesus really exist?
2) Is Jesus God?
3)Why should I believe that the Bible is accurate, or the word of God?
4) What is the Holy Trinity?
5)What is so special about Jesus? Why cant I just view him as an ordinary man or a teacher or a prophet? Why should I see him as God?

No matter what, you will form your own personal idea of God. This has nothing to do with whether or not God exists. We are human beings. We can only understand things in human ways. We are liable to project ourselves and our motives onto others.

"Coming to know God" and "knowing God" are really two different ideas. Like a child has an image of their parent built up in their head that changes dramatically when they too become adults and then parents, as you grow to really know God you will move from your own concept of God to a concept closer to the truth.

"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known." 1 Cor 13:12

This is where Comprehension comes in. You know, understanding what it is you have just read. Comprehension is a key to Learning. So, since Jesus was the prince of Peace, Not War. I would say that most Christians are Ignorant to the teachings of their Name Sake.

How could it be possible? If it were possible, that would assume the absence of God. Maybe the absence of God in you makes your question possible, but the answer to your question is an absolute no in my life. God Bless you.
