Won't work. Shellies are best in species tanks with their own kind only.

They also have very different water chemistry requirements to your other fish, specifically the Rams.

Shellies are African Cichlids from Lake Tanganyika, mixing African Cichlids from the Rift Lakes and South American Cichlids like Bolivians is a BIG nono!

"pH independent" skill that the sand won't impression the pH. some coral sands improve the pH. The age at which you would be able to assume fry relies upon on your skill in water and weight loss plan administration. First meals for those fry would be an issue as a results of fact the fry would be so small. some diligent study on your area would be needed. possibly "Infusoria cultures". study. you need to confirm between a breeding colony and a community tank. You point out BBS as a popular food, they're too large for shell dweller fry. have you ever seen transforming into a member of the yankee Cichlid affiliation? those individuals may be a huge help. timber could not be a sturdy determination for a Tanganyika tank (could decrease pH). Rocks ok,extraordinarily something like Texas holey rock, that is limestone and could help carry the pH up. Sand shade ok. evaluate procuring some books, you will by no skill get all the needed information online sturdy success, they're desirable fish and a project to maintain and spawn.

Lake Tanganykan shell dwellers are excellent fish though you have several issues here. Lake Tanganyka is composed of very hard water and the fish need hard water to survive and thrive. Neon Tetras are soft water fish are will not survive in Hard water and visa versa for the shell dwellers. Corys are soft water as well though more tolerant than neons. The first thing you should do is contact your municipal water source and get a report on the water being distributed to your home. Purchase fish that match these parameters. Shell Dwellers also need to live in colonies and don't do well individually. If you want some additional cichlid info check out our website www.gcca.net
