I can't believe I'm asking for advice on guys...?

Question

There's this guy, and everyone says he likes me. A lot of people have even asked me if I'm going out with him. The thing is, he's really shy and kind of awkward, so I'm not sure if he does like me. According to other people, it's clear that he does, but I'm not convinced. He teases me a lot, and 95% of the time I'm sure he's kidding, but lately I haven't been so sure. He is nice, too. Like, if I'm upset, he'll stop making obnoxious comments and say something like, "Seriously, are you all right?" Or if I'm nervous about something, he'll try to calm me down. So is he just a good friend who likes to tease me, or does he like me? 
Also, if he does like me, how can I get him to ask me out? He's not the type of guy to ask someone out. In his only previous relationship, the girl asked him. I could ask him, but I'd feel really uncomfortable doing that, especially since I'm not entirely sure he likes me, or that he's looking for a relationship. This whole thing with him has been going on for almost a year now, and he still hasn't made a move. Is he just being shy, or am I wasting my time?

I think you should ask him out to break the stalemate. From what I can tell, he genuinely cares about your feelings, which means at the very least, what you feel about him will matter to him.

He already considers you to be someone worthy of his attention and sensitivity. All good signs. 

If you want to approach the situation more carefully, talk about a closer relationship hypothetically, like "you know, I feel like I could trust you as a boyfriend more than any other guy I know..." If he asks questions about that comment, slowly work into a more direct desire to go out with him... he will find your approach to be very cute and will make him feel warm and fuzzy.

(It's like your suggestion can be a compliment to what a quality guy he is... and you can't go wrong with a compliment.)

Hopefully, he'll feel fuzzy enough to say "I'd love to go out with you"

This is what my guy friends do all the time. They tease me and most of the time, I know they're kidding. And when I'm nervous and all that, they're there for me basically. He's just being shy. Ignore the comments and move on. Those people are wasting their time. And if he does like you, do you like him? Because you can't have a relationship unless you guys both like each other.

He's just shy. I am positive he likes you, but he's unsure if you like him. When you're in this situation, you have to realize that he might feel exactly like you do, but is unsure. I think you should tell him that you like him, and observe his body language, not his words. On the other hand, if he does not like you back, you could be great friends no matter what you tell him, he seems very understanding. If all else fails, just go with your intuition on this one.

It sounds like he really does like you. If you can't get him to ask you out you should ask him out yourself (don't make your friends ask him for you) You are a strong, beautiful girl, you can ask him out, the worst that can happen is that he says no, but it sounds like he really truly does like you so I bet he'll be glad you finally asked him to go out with you.
