Trans men (or other people who have taken testosterone with PCOS?
I have PCOS and take a high dosage estrogen containing birth control pill daily to help regulate symptoms. It does help with some symptoms, but it has also had issues with making my breasts grow (Over the past two years, I lost 100 lbs and gained two full cup sizes). I am genderqueer and would not mind being more masculine presenting, though I do not plan to identify as male. If I switched from taking estrogen and took enough testosterone to up my level to a male level (which would be much less than most people would have to take), how would that affect my PCOS symptoms? My testosterone now is higher than what is considered 'normal' female range. Does anyone know how this would affect me? Has anyone here with PCOS transitioned or took testosterone?
Look, I have nothing against trans guys, or people who do decide to have a male identity, but I don't really fit a male or female identity. Some people identify as male and that's cool, but us people who do not identify as either gender deserve respect as well. How is the issue of taking female hormones not as big a deal as taking male hormones? I have taken hormones every day for two years, so how am I being less serious if I consider taking a different hormone?
Unlike some people with PCOS, my progesterone is not high, only my testosterone. So, the estrogen I take now counteracts my natural out of wack testosterone, but if I rose my testosterone to a male level, it seems this should be as good of a solution.
