So you can learn and grow up to be a productive citizen of society. Or at least, that used to be the reason. Now in order to get a better job you need a college degree, so school is really more of a preparation for college.

As a side note, I want you to know that some societies base being a somebody on doing something, but know that you are a somebody, even before you grow up, or get an occupation, despite what society says....

Initially school was primarily to keep the children occupied so that the parents can get on with their lives and keep the home in order.

The way populations grow it is an easier way to get the children to co-operate with each other and learn about how they are part of many communities.

Communities need Laws to keep order and they still think it's a good idea today.

If none of us went to school, then none of us would be smart. I don't mean we would be stupid, I mean we would be ignorant. Ignorant is kind of like uneducated, meaning we would have no technology, we would be like the cave men and women again. If there was no school, then we would not have such things as Science, Technology, Language Skills, or anything like that. We would basically be back to painting on walls and grunting at each other, which is not good

Hope that helps :)

It's not a law to go to school.(well here in america). You have to go b/c when you go to college and study what you want to be then after you graduate, you will have a more chance to earn lots and lots of money compared to a person who didn't go to school.
