92' GRAND PRIX 3.1L WILL NOT START.?

This just died one day driving down the road. Service engine light came on. oil light and temp. Let sit for a day and it started right up. And drove about 5 miles down the road and died again. There is plenty of fuel pressure so i don't think its the pump. There is spark. Motor cranks over and ran a bit just to get it in the shed but seemed like it wasn't getting any gas. Now it just cranks over. Motor ran just great before this happened.

Just changed plug wires and plugs. I was getting some hessitation between 60 and 70 mph otherwise ran great. Hard to believe the compression would just go out if the car was running great before this.

and i just changed the fuel filter last night that why ive ruled out the filter and pump. Im thinking maybe a cam or crank sensor or fuel pressure reg. Or something else that i can't think of. Thus, the reason i ask the question.

you said it is getting spark and gas so the spark rules out what I initially thought and that would be the ignition switch. As you probably know an engine requires 3 things gas, spark and compression. So if we turn the attention toward compression that would mean valves and rings more than likely. possibly could be a valve stuck open or if you are seeing smoke from the tailpipe oil cold be blowing by. have you tried changing the plugs? possibly fouled. If i were you i would try the cheap route first, change plugs then use Lucas oil stop leak in the crank case also a bottle of lucas tune up in a bottle in the gas tank. Dont forget the culprit could be simply a clogged fuel filter.

you might have a partly clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump regulator is getting ready to go.
