R&P: Stone's List of underrated things - care to add?

1. Roger Daltrey's voice.

2. Moments of silence in music.

3. Marty Robbins (See, you don't know who he is - do you?)

4. The Everly Brother's harmonies.

5. The Beach Boys - for those who only think of them as "surf rock" - there is much more...

6. Steve Winwood - multiple bands, amazing voice, disturbingly not talked about.

7. Brian May as a singer.

8. Jack Bruce's voice (of Cream fame)

9. Marc Bolan's songwriting - even though it doesn't make sense, it still manages to be epic, I mean, he has giraffes in his hair, and he doesn't care!!

10. The Grateful Dead

11. John Cale of The Velvet Underground

12. Mott The Hoople - known primarily for the Bowie-penned "All The Young Dudes", they have a surprising amount of forgotten material that is pretty great.

and finally...

13. Freddie Mercury's lyrics - lok past the big voice and Bam!! The words are scary beautiful.

Care to add any of your own/comment?

Homo Superior - I know Daltrey makes lists and what not, most of the time for that epic scream of his, but I never hear him being regarded as a great vocalist, it always seems as others are getting in his way, does that make any sense? ...oh well.

Oooh, I should have added early Bowie.

Whooooaaaaahhhhhhh, apparently I made someone angry.........

Oh dear, I'm so sorry sir that my opinions have pissed you off, and that you feel the need to jump on the "there are too many people who worship the Beatles so I'm going to be a cool rebel and say that I hate them" bandwagon.

Good day to you.

Mr May's singing voice and range are exquisite! He can go from a low F to a high E in no time!

Hey Stone!
That's a great list - and I do know who Marty Robbins was!
I totally agree with the items on your list - especially about Cream (a couple of my favorite Cream songs are sung by Jack Bruce), Brian May, Daltrey and Winwood. I honestly need to check out more of the Velvet Underground and Mott the Hoople. I also don't know much about Marc Bolan, but I'm intrigued about the giraffes in his hair! lol.
We should add the awesomeness that is Ginger Baker!

I would also agree with the first answerer Rotten Apple by AIC is a masterpeice.

The Band Eleven
Chris Cornell's solo album Euphoria Morning

Jeff Buckley's voice can melt butter and his lyrics are beautiful and he doesn't get much recognition

How, exactly, is Roger Daltrey's voice underrated? He always makes lists and everything.

Hm...this is tough. Oh, I've got one. The Small Faces. And Humble Pie. And early Pink Floyd. And early David Bowie. And...Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, and Yes, and King Crimson, and just about every prog band ever, besides Rush....

I like and have heard 10,9,8,7,5,4 and some of 2. Kollage is one of the best produced albums ever imo. Dilated Peoples straight up classic. Don Cartagena I revisited the other day and yep it's also excellent. Coast to Coast has one of my all time fave tracks "Grab some 40 oz. and a few Bacardi Breezers" I got ripped off on the Industry Shakedown got the album online only to find out that somehow the single was inside sealed packaging WTF! INI one of the most underground in fact they have several tracks on this Pete Rock Underground Classics CD I have.
