How I dealt with a very rude, condesending customer today. its kind of long...?

Ok I work at wal-mart, yes I hate it more than anyone can imagine. Anyways since thanksgiving is only a few days away we have been busier than hell. First off we have a very very small staff and management is hiring people for every department except ours! I have been seriously killing myself trying to get things done so I dont have to hear management or customers ***** at me. Today I had this older guy who I never seen before in my life in a motorized cart call out my name several feet away and I looked over and he asked for something that we didnt have, so he goes over to this other associate and asks him the same question, and again he is told we are out. Then he comes up to me to "tell me that we dont have anymore" so I think whatever. About an hour later Iam stocking bananas and we have our potato stand less than 4 feet away, well I have my cart in between there like I always do, so customers usually have no problems going around since its only five more feet. Iam rushing to get the bananas stocked and then I see that guy in the motorized cart again and I asked him if he needed anything? And he says" You need to move that cart out of the way so people can get thru!!!! in a very threating tone and I snapped!!! and said as loud as I could" Iam trying to do my job here and he says "excuse me?" I repeated myself and then told him that you cant always have your way. I had this lady come up and asked me what that guys problem was and said that I have no idea because he could of gone around in the motorized cart I laughed it off . I just hope he went to management because if he causes me any trouble I will absolutely make his life miserable. I refuse to let anyone treat me like **** plain and simple, respect is earned not given...

I feel your pain. I work as a meat cutter in a grocery store so I know how people can be during the holidays. We've got a million turkeys out and they cant find the size they want so they either want me to look for them or go find them one in the back (as you know, customers seem to think the 'back' has endless amounts of everything). All you can do is keep smiling.

I would hate that to, and I'm usually the kind of person to back talk and stuff, but I know if I do, then I would lose my job. So It's best to keep a Smile, and try to work with the costumer as well as you can, even when you just want to ring that person's neck. =D.

lol.

Is thi some sort of a rant or story? Where's the question? The guy was an asshole. Many customers are like this. The better you can cope, the mroe you will like your job.

Get over it. Theres really nothing more to it than that. Its just some old guy his life probably sucks more than yours does.
