"real music" is a very subjective term....we all hear and receive the vibe of music differently. just because some lame person says certain music sucks doesn't make it so.
it's okay to like whatever hits you in a way that sounds good to you without regard to what some retard says about it. besides, it's mostly 15 year old zit faced kids trying to be cool that make such statements like "that isn't real music and it sucks".
this question reminds me of the great carpenters vs led zeppelin debates of the early 70's.
my suggestion find other sources for music than just the radio alone. there is plenty of good music out there today. it's best to expand on the places you get music, and to keep an open mind about music and not get sucked into the whole genre and assigning music labels thing.
Absolutely. Music enjoyed by many people tend to be the music with the best video. That includes the hottest people in the video. Take Britney Spears. Why would anyone in their right mind pay so much money to see her live, when it isn't live at all? They think she's cute, her music is simply fun and they should just buy the record. But, they like the show, the visuals. Yes, absolutely, many people do NOT appreciate good music anymore. The bands you've selected are awesome and a lot of time is spent creating a great album for their fans. A few bands I just saw live are U2 and Muse. These guys are classically trained, try to find a new sound, and live and breathe their music. You may like them as well. If you haven't heard of Muse, check them out. They are British and hitting our charts now. http://muse.mu/ And, I just found out that their music is sampled in both Twilight and New Moon if you like those movies. Great question! ;)
Addition since yours: The Beatles have a very very large compilation of different types of music. There may be some stuff in there you like. No Muse eh? How about Robbie Williams? You may want to youtube him and see what you think. He is basically the largest solo artist in the world but doesn't promote in the U.S. in order to maintain anonymity. He has a wide range of music include the punk/alternative rock you like. Also, look into Placebo. I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but I don't happen to think you're a zit-faced kid either so thought I'd give you more to explore. youtube is great for finding new music. Also, go to pandora.com and create some stations so you can find more of what you're looking for. You can make an Incubus station and other artists will be played with the same type of music. You may already have heard of that site, but if not, it's killer. You're not alone in appreciating great music, keep it up! :)
Aerosmith - Rock In A Hard Place It's always overlooked, even by the band, because Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (the guitarists) had both left Aerosmith at this point, and this album was made with two other guitarists, Rick Dufay and Jimmy Crespo. It has the most funky, foot tapping bluesy songs on it and, even though you can tell they were doped up to their eyeballs, it's actually an awesome album. Since the original line up of the band reformed, that album has pretty much been ignored. It's sad cos it's a really cool album.
yeah, people dont really like the bands i listen to anymore, because everyone likes that mainstream crap. i have to admit, SOME of the bands that i like could be somewhat mainstream. just like green day, blink 182, sum 41, and some of the pop-punk or pop/rock bands, but i like tons of bands that are not mainstream. i just hate mainstream pop and rap.
