I need two songs and one monlog - does anyone have any suggestions?
(I am a high soprano, if that helps- although you could probably guess that since I want Maybel haha.)
I don't want to do anything from the show - but obviously something very similar to the style.

Look at other music written by Gilbert and Sullivan. Might I suggest the show "The Mikado." The stories are actually quite similar, and the characters "Yum-Yum" and "Katisha" both have soprano solos. "Alone and Yet Alive" is my favorite from the show, but "The Sun Whose Rays are All Ablaze" would also work.
For a second song, you could go to songs from Les Miserables. "I Dreamed a Dream" and "On My Own," work well for your voice.
You will forgive me for not being excited about yet another production of Pirates of Penzance which was FIRST PERFORMED IN 1879 and just so DATED that any time I see some high school doing it yet again, I know they must have a performing arts program that is so under funded it doesn't deserve the name or classification. The ONLY reason for doing Pirates is.. the school has no money.
That being said.. Pirates is the first musical I was ever in and I can still perform I AM THER VERY MODEL OF A MODERN MAJOR GENERAL and WEEEE SAIL THE OCEAN BLUE.. AND OUR SAUCY SHIP'S A BEAUTYYYYYY.. et. I hated that musical when I wasa 14 and I still hate it today

For "Pirates", attempt "Moonfall" from "The secret of Edwin Drood". For the two or the two, attempt "Pirate Jenny" from "The Threepenny Opera". that is as lots an workout in performing as singing.
