play shape lotto. Use the 8 basic shapes. DUPLICATE THEM 6 or 8 times and then paste 5 or 6 of them on each lotto board. Please do not try to teach colors and shapes at the same time, that is confusing to a small child. Have them cover the shape with a paper square, counter or small toy. Be patient, some get the idea right away and others will just cover everything. Important: everyone wins, so play until all cards are covered.
You could use cloes along with the name of the shape.ie. the circle looks like the tires on the fire truck, or the square is a window in gramma's house etc. Good luck and have fun with them.
PS Play musical shapes. Put shapes (approx 10-12 inch) on the floor and play music while they walk around. stop the music and tell everyone to stand on a shape. ask 3 0r 4 of them the name of the shape they are on then repeat until everyone has had a turn or until interest wanes.

There is a song on shapes, and it can even be made into a book. Take each shape and glue it on a piece of construction paper then add the appropriate words. See link below.
I've added some verses using the same pattern:
A star has 5 points. . .
Count them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. . .
An oval is long and round . . .
Take a circle and squash it down. . .
A diamond is like a kite. . .
It points up and it points down . . .
A heart is a sign of love . . .
2 bumps at the top and a point below. . .
(I know the diamond one isn't perfect but if anyone can make a better verse, please do!)

You should do have cardboard paper shapes with glitter that makes a necklace to wear around your neck.
