One simple question - is your wireless icon showing? Many laptops have a switch that can turn off the wireless for security reasons, and that switch can get bumped accidentally.

A less likely chance is that your laptop only detects certain wireless type signals (a/b/g/n) and your wireless system is using a different type/frequency. That's unlikely, unless someone configured the wireless very strictly.

Then there's the simple problem I ran into - the laptop wireless fried or otherwise quit working. The only economic solution to that problem is to buy an external wireless devices (usually USB based)
