Computer unstable/crashes?

Hello i cleaned my computer today with a brush inside out cos i thought it was dirty and in the process i unplugged the HDD and FDDso i can clean them and restored to their previous positions later on. But i found out my computer cannot execute heavy jobs/processes such as opening few browser windows/open system restore/open windows live messenger. Clearly this means my computer cannot run sufficiently. When the problem occurs, the computer freezes and shuts down after dozens of seconds and this problem keeps repeating. Does anyone know what is this?!?!? i tried system restore in safe mode to a previous date but nothing changes. I still cannot execute multiple jobs at once in normal XP. Plz urgent!

Check if your memories are plugged in nicely and have no dirt/dust in the slots. Dusting ur mainboard may have blown some dust into your memory slots.
Check your HDD cable (which type do you have? IDE or SATA?).

Never clean out your pc with a brush. A can of compressed air will remove dust buildup without damaging components. Even a soft brush which may seem harmless can introduce static electricity to your components causing damage otherwise unseen.

Did you accidentally move around other parts in the pc? Check if all your components/cables are firmly installed (RAM, cpu heatsink). You didn't mention if you have the same problem in safe mode, try opening multiple browser windows or executing another task you can't get done in normal mode. Do you get the same results or is you computer able to handle that? If your pc remains on in safe mode then run a virus scan/malware removal program to confirm it isn't a software issue that coincides with your cleaning out the pc.
