sue the fish and game poachers?

Question

after someone has been convicted and sentenced in a criminal court for fish and game violations, would it not be possible or feasable to turn around and sue them in a civil action? 
many judges are notoriously lenient on these types of violations.
there are still way too many people that feel it is their right to steal as much of our game and fish as they please and they GET AWAY WITH A SLAP ON THE HAND.
it is done for other offences. why not fish and game violations?

It doesn't cost anything to sue in small claims court so you never know it might work.

First off, I don't care how much Indians take, it was after all their land before the white folk came, and they're entitled to it. And I am 1/16 Cherokee, which makes it legal for me to scalp anyone that disagrees.

Pretty sad that the idea of "scalping" actually came from the white folks, though...

They need more than a slap on a hand.

Good point I believe this should apply to indians who claim it is their culture to deplete salmon and other fishery stocks
