Because the series was by far the best mixture of puzzle solving, collection, exploraton, and battle when it first came out.

It's was years ahead of it's time in genre blending.

Zelda has continue to be an amazing series constant introducing memorable new characters and stories... Although the wii and ds titles could be improved...a lot.

So anyway there you have it, it's that perfect form of genre blending that makes zelda a game to last the test of time.

It's just a classic game that a lot of Nintendo fans grew up with, the game is simply addicting and it draws you in so you want to keep playing it over and over and save the princess one more time. It has the perfect combanation of game play. This game was the first game I played when I was younger now I'm 16 and I still play it on the original Nintendo 64 and I play an emulator version on my laptop. It's just got all the good things a video game could want, the fact that it's such a basic and simple game makes it all the better,

Because of the fact that it hasn't spoiled completely. (except for the DS titles.)
