Because satan is terrified of the Bible. so he has invented religion to confuse what the Bible says. (it has worked well) And it has worked because God does not control everything (like religion teaches) God put all things under mans control. (psalms 8:5-6) ANd man has allowed the stupidity of religion to rob him of what is no the pages of the Bible. So while it is true that the Bible has all the answers not everyone reads their Bible and most read it thru the prism of religion. They go to church as a kid, they hear all the religious doctrine and then when they read truth they have already been programed with lies, and half truths.
So some people ask because the preacher will not touch things like sex or to teach any truth that would challenge traditional doctrines and may get them fired because they pissed to congregation off.
