How can I clear unnecessary files from my C drive and registry?

My computer has a lot of useless files in its C drive, and I want to get rid of them to clear out space. The problem is that I don't know how to identify the unnecessary files, and I don't want to delete something important that a program might need to run. Will a registry cleaner help? Does anyone have any suggestions to help me make extra space on my computer?

Uninstall unused or unwanted programs.
Delete pictures or videos you don't want any more
Get a program call cCleaner and run both the cleaner and registry cleaner.
Run Disk Cleanup
Run Disk Defragmenter

First off all clean your browsing history, cookies etc (to do that open Tools in your browser and navigate to Options and there find buttons for cleaning).
Then go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup and run it.
To make deep cleanup of your C: drive and registry you have to get some good disk and registry cleaner, and here is the link to one of them (Wise Registry Cleaner):
