Hmmm...just as an exercise in creative writing, I'd suggest grabbing a handful of dirt and examining it. Notice the pebbles, the shade of the soil, any bits of decaying plants. Who do you think would live there? Sit down and start writing about life as someone in this dirt. Try and imagine their means of survival and the life forms that live there alongside them.

Or look at a potted plant and try to imagine what it must be like to live inside of that plant (you could use a Christmas tree if you have one set up at present). Who lives with you?

If those don't work, try researching one of these cities:
Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Lahore, Pakistan
La Paz, Bolivia
Accra, Ghana
Shenyang, China

Then imagine yourself as a stray cat, stray dog, or mouse living in the streets. What would your life be like then?

I hope that this helps! Good luck and happy writing! :)

How about some homeless dude in a small town (not a big city, cuz too many of them are not actually homeless, just actors getting spare change from tourists) comes across some object that he likes, and takes it back to his cardboard area or bridge, or wherever he is staying.
The object turns out to be very valuable, worth several hundred thousand dollars. But he doesn't realize it until 2/3 into the story. For a while, he thinks nothing of its monetary value, just it's appearance.
Things to point out could be his lifestyle, his history, how he became homeless, his appearance, his enemies, what he is running from, his dreams, how his goals change or become stronger once he learns of the value of the object, the dangers of sharing his secret, etc.

It's probably been done before, but it was the first thing to come to mind.

Hm, how about something on magic and witches? Or some sort of fictional/mythological character. Maybe even Greek Mythology? Plots are fun. I personally think that a story about a run-in with a terrifying mythological creature that lands a girl in a mental asylum (one of my own, personal touches) and she just never recovers fully would be fun to read.

Good luck!

Hmmm. You can write about someone who wakes up in their house, but it's upside down. Then all kinds of weird stuff happens - maybe their pet talks to them, and when they leave the house everything is upside down as well but the town is deserted, or there are people but they don't seem to think anything's wrong. (I had a dream like this recently, it was creepy.)

Maybe someone who steals dreams so they won't have to wake up, and the people who have their dreams stolen then dream...while they're awake...like, they're awake but they're not really there.

You can write about a person who brings things to life. Things like furniture, machines maybe, clothes, etc. Maybe they don't have any real friends so they bring their stuffed animals and toys to life instead, but every time they do, they take a bit of their own life.

Yeah, pretty random. :D

Write from the point of view of a virus about to infect an important document - that one's from a writing prompt. I love prompts! :)

A foriegn girl comes to stay in america and her life is turned upside down. She gets raped, fashion ruins her image, her friends forget her, and maybe she gets into drugs. We always hear culturally-opressed-stories, how about a real life profile of a possible american lifestyle?
