What is the best way you have found to remove ice from your windshield?

I pour on warm water but I know one day my luck is going to run out. Please be specific with brand names. Thanks so much!

I've used warm water from the first time I owned a car.(almost 40 yrs) As long as the window isn't already cracked, you won't do it any damage.

You could use covers, or the defrost. Using the wipers only causes the ice to chew up the wiper blades and you'll be replacing them a lot more often. Whatever you do, don't throw warm water on it. I'd rather scrape ice off rather than replace the windshield. Start your car and let it warm up while you get the ice off the windows, it's better to take the time clearing off the ice rather than end up stuck in a ditch cause you couldn't see Up north here a lot of us pull the wiper arms out away from the windshield when we park, it prevents them from being frozen to the windshield

Scraping is the best way.

I've tried a few deicing sprays made by Prestone. Both the aerosol can with the built in scraper and the pump bottle. They work about as well as regular washer fluid. Really not worth the money.

I got a heated scraper that plugs into the 12v outlet one year for Christmas. Totally worthless.

I'd recommend any washer fluid labeled deicer, and a nice sturdy scraper. Start the car and the set the defroster going, get out and scrape, washer fluid the bits you missed until you can see.

Your luck will eventually run out pouring liquids on cold glass.

Good luck.

i keep my car in the garage. that keeps the ice off.

when i don't have luxury of a garage, i use a scraper. if i'm in a rush, i scrape enough to see forward then drive, which warms the engine faster, and then i let the defrost and wipers do the rest of the work. but drive carefully with the reduced visibility

if you have time to let the car warm up, start it and keep the defrost on blast then the ice comes off relatively easy. i don't like using the wipers because it can messup the rubber and leave streaks next time it rains and you need them.

I use the scraper, then let the car warm up, and then defrost button lol
