WHY IS HUNTING CLASSIFIED AS A SPORT?
TO ME A SPORT IS TWO OPPONENTS ON AN EQUAL PLAYING FIELD, BOTH HAVING AN EQUAL CHANCE TO WIN PLAYING UNDER THE SAME RULES.

I am you opponent. Go to the sports page. Who cares what something is to you. Do your thing and don't try to set parameters for others by announcing you personal thoughts. It's cold out and the winter is boring this question and answer are the result,my thought.

It is a sport because it requires that one face the tracking, stalking, and killing of game animals. You might not think they are on the same playing field, and you are both right and wrong. A deer cannot fight you at long distance, but they can hear and smell you much farther away then you can sense them. They can also run much faster than you can. If you hunt a wild bore and make a mistake, they will kill you. This is why it is a sport. It also harkens back to a time when man had to hunt with "caveman weapons" although are distant ancestors were much more fit genetically and it is thought they had a greater resistance to injury and pain. Back then it was "kill and eat" or "be killed and eaten".

actually, you perfectly answered your question.
there are two opponents here, a hunter and the wild game, the rules may have changed to the hunter's advantage, but legal hunting(fair chase) is a challenge, your only thinking of those lazy TV hosts that sit there in a tree stand and wait for their buck, not all hunters are like that, many like me are stalkers and glassers, we stalk our prey and work for the meat, don't downplay hunting because of what you see on TV, in most cases it's not the same at all.
the only hunting that I've seen on TV that makes sense is when their hunting dall, bighorn sheep or mountain goats in the mountains of the north, there your working for your meat, moose hunting is the same way, you have to stalk them, get close(often in brush conditions) and take your shot, there's always the danger of be charged and trampled, seriously, never downplay us hunters.
also, what gives you the right to set the rules on what is a sport? no one, a sport is what you make it.
if you don't agree with what I'm saying, too bad, live with it, cause it's not going away.

You are confusing sports with games. Hunting and fishing are sports. As soon as you have a playing field, arena, court and the like, you have a game.
