My only income is SSI and I have two minor children. Last year when I filed taxes, I got a refund of $900.?

It was some type of credit for the children. This year, what happened to that refund? When I calculate everything, I'm not getting anything. Do you know why?

SSI is not taxable income. If it's your only income there's no need to file.

What you are referring to from last year may be the stimulus rebate or recovery rebate credit. There are no similar rebates or credits for 2009. Sorry.

The credit is still there.
$1000 per qualifying child.
It comes after your AGI.
After your filing exemption (married, single, etc) after your personal exemptions ($3650? per person)
Then you get the amount you will be taxed on. Fill in the amount of tax you would pay.
THEN comes the child credit. Which reduces the amount of tax you would pay by $2000.
