Where is a good place to do some volunteer work in the kankakee county area?

I would like to either volunteer at a shelter or suicide hotline. Anything along those lines where I can help people around me. I can even drive to Chicago to volunteer on the weekends but I have school during the week. Know any good places I can do a little to make a difference?

Try some of your local retirement communities (old folks homes) Alot of times they accept volunteers for things like playing games, pushing them around (in wheelchairs lol), etc...
