what would you add to improve my network?

I have my home network all set up i have my desktop and wireless modem in one floor a communicating netgear powerline XAVB101 to communicate my xbox and my directv receiver, when i perform a streaming network test I receive a poor result leading stopping me to receive netflix and other services through xbox and directv how would you update all my network so i can receive better streaming signal? are those powerline XAVB101 not very reliable?

well if I were you I would open some firewall ports up to ensure direct data flow. But be very careful only open ports that are required. You can go to portforward.com and pick your router and follow instructions from there. If this doesn't help try upgrading your ISP service. ( you said modem I am hoping its a cable modem not a modem modem like dail-up)
