Name of novel is the same as a song--copyright info?
I just wrote a novel that I entitled after a song. What (if anything) do I have to do in order to avoid getting sued? Thank you.

I'm no expert on this topic...but what I would assume is that unless the song specifically has a copyright on it...then you should be okay. I'm not so sure titles have copyrights on them for the most part...hence there are plenty of songs with the same name and even books that have the same name. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you sign with a publisher there's a chance the title might change anyway...especially if it does turn out that there is a copyright issue. So until that novel is published I don't think you have anything to worry about. Congrats, by the way, on writing a novel. I'm working on one right now and really hope I'm able to finish it in the near future. :)

Titles can't be copyrighted, so you should be safe, unless you use some of the actual song, in which case you will probably need copyright permission to use those portions.
