What do you do with old saddles?

I know our landfills aren't clogged with English saddles, but I still hate throwing them away. Eventually they get to a point where they can't be used anymore, such as when the old wooden trees break. I would love to hear/read any creative uses for retired saddles. For example, I heard of a guy who made bar stools for the bar in his "man cave" out of them.

1) Use them to teach about saddle care, construction etc.
2) Ask local theatres if they have a use for them as props.

That's about all I have ;)

we use our old saddles as training/starting saddles and then when they are so worn out they can not be used anymore, we hang them up on the wall of the barn or just stash them away and use them for parts

when we are breaking a horse and getting it used to the saddle, we put one of the old worn out saddles on it so that way if the horse goes crazy or does anything stupid we dont have to worry about a nice saddle getting torn up

right now one of our best ones is one that my grandma gave me she had it since she was a little girl, that saddle is over 70 years old but its vet wrapped and tied together in lots of places and its just heavy enough to make a good breaking saddle

Boring, but so far we've kept them to teach Pony Clubbers. Of course, when they pile up I don't know what I'll do....It does seem like a waste to throw them in with the trash! Luckily, most of ours (Including the 30 year old County Jumping saddle!) are still in pretty good shape.

I've seen people who made chairs out of them,
or you could build a saddle rack and keep it in your room as decoration.
Put the saddle rack in the middle of a wall, then put shelves on either side that you can hang ribbons from, and put trophies and pictures on.

Like equestriancrazy said, use them for decoration. My whole room has old tack for decoration. You could build a stand for it and use it as a chair in your room or wherever. What better way to sit than on a saddle??
