What happens to your computer after you enter those verification codes? Is there a keystroke shortcut?

You know when on a website and suddenly they ask you to enter a code. What does it do? Is there a shortcut to verify whatever sometimes I cant read their code.

"Arfen" has your basic idea.
Those, when completed correctly, exchange cookies form the websites server and your machine, which permit further action on your part.
These are the 'session' cookie authorizations.
If you can't read them, there's usually a link close to the box, to 'Refresh' or 'Get another', which should send you a different one. Keep going 'til you get one that's readable.
There's no shortcut; they must be done (sometimes exactly as to 'case').

What verification codes?

if you mean captcha codes,
they are to ensure you are a human and not a bot.
