Did you earn your Top Contributor status consciously, or are you planning to earn one?

If you earned it unintentionally, will you be working towards maintaining it?

Do you treat your TC status with importance?

Thanks for your answer.

Zilla: No worries. I am not particularly fond of him as well.

I remember him asking to remove my answer to his question because I had the screen name ''Muhammed Asif''. That was around 2 years ago.

I wish it was optional. the only effect that the little orange box has is that sometimes people use it to insult your contribution. I never wanted to be teachers pet, I'm so ashamed. It feels as though it is a badge that says: 'Look at me, I'm a sad barsteward, I spend too much time on a fairly meaningless site'

TC status comes and goes. I'm surprised when it appears. I used to be TC more often when I was hanging out in other categories, where people actually want help with something and are more likely to give best answers instead of trolling and running.

Many of the TC got there by cheating, using multiple accounts to vote for themselves and such - just look at the R&S points leaderboard and the 80%+ best answer rates, which are obviously not credible. So it's no particular honor.

I actually avoid the things. It certainly used to be the case that those little orange badges were more likely to make you a target for reporters.

Contacts of mine would complain of having questions and answers that were over two years old reported. Some even lost their account as a result. It was seen by some as a badge of death.

I sometimes wonder if Y!A staff know this? Or even care? Either way, the Yamster works in mysterious ways. What is meant to be a 'reward' is seen as a curse.

So thanks, but no thanks. When I get one, I cut back on answering questions until it's gone again.

Meh. That stupid target comes and goes, and many times my account was suspended right after having been tagged with it. So I'd rather not have it. And really, what does it mean? I do NOT give good, knowledge-based answers lol! That tells me that it signifies nothing more than wasting too much time here :P

Lol @ Rev. Wing Wang! I love that girl :)

Buddy R's answer is probably exactly why atheists tend to be oopsed after being tagged with a TC. Fundies like him being haters. Buddy, why do you think that atheists cheat to get a stupid orange tag on a stupid green site, but fundies don't? You, my not good sir, are a MORON.

Sorry for kinda ranting in your question, Mastermind, but that guy just rubs me the wroooong way. I really and truly can't stand him.

I was happy with my TC badge. Since having it summarily removed I understand it was never mine to begin with. The yahoo answers staff feels it can remove anyone's TC badge at any time without cause or notification. Furthermore, if you don't like it--shove off, mate. What can be done about the report monkey problem?
