Unorthodox Guitar Tuning?

I play bass infrequently with a couple of guitar players who tune their guitar with what they call "vestipool" (not sure if that is the correct spelling or for that matter the correct name). They are unable to tell me what note each string is being tuned to. I have figured out that their 1st, 5th, and 6th string is tuned to E. Only God knows what the 2nd, 3rd and 4th is tuned to. Anybody ever heard of such a tuning and if so what is it proper name and what are the strings tuned to?

These players do not know the notes on the fretboard and play by ear only, no music theory or fretboard knowledge at all...

Based on what I was able to find, Vestapol tuning most commonly refers to open D tuning (DADF#AD), but also refers to open E tuning EBEG#BE. So it you might be a bit off and it might actually be one of these tunings.
