It is a little stupid, no a LOT stupid to deny responsible citizens the right to Keep and Bear arms when every street punk and doper, every illegal alien on the streets HAVE weapons. The worse part about this whole thing is that the Stud Civil Rights Lawyers keep getting the thugs off on weapons charges and continues to make laws to PREVENT Law Enforcement from looking for these weapons and taken them from the criminal. These are also the same Stud Civil RIghts Lawyers that continue to block the Law Abiding Citizen from getting laws passed to give themselves the right to protect against the criminal.
Two problems exist...FIRST these Anti's are saying that YOU the Law Abiding Citizens are responsible for the deaths of ALL the innocent people killed by Gang bangers and street thugs. They are doing it by saying that ALL guns kill innocent people, NOT that Criminals Kill.
Second the Stud Civil Rights Lawyers MAKE MONEY OFF CRIMINALS....They do not want the Law Abiding Citizens KILLING OFF THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGGS...
A dead Career Criminal ain't worth a dime to these lawyers....Only the live ones....
So, YES the Courts should overturn the laws that are making the Streets of Chicago and New York look like Civil war Lawrence, Kansas....

The Second Amendment does not tie the states or cities. However, the 14th does. The 14th Amendment requires that states and localities respect the privileges and immunities of US citizens as well as guaranteeing due process. The 2nd Amendment is a privilege and immunity of US citizens so it should be respected by states and localities.
Also, gun control does not work to reduce crime. Both Chicago and DC saw murder rates go up much faster than the national rate after they banned handguns. DC's went up over 150% while the national rate only increased about 40%. Chicago's went up over 50% while the national rate was below 20% (single digits possibly). There is no clear statistical data to prove that gun control reduces crime and/or more access to legal guns increases crime. In fact, based on figures gathered from Texas, Florida and Arkansas, concealed carry permit holders are less likely to be involved in accidents or crime than the general population. Criminals don't follow the law.
Some people are even arguing that the "bear" part of the 2nd Amendment gives us the Constitutional right to carry concealed and open. The keep arms means to own them. To bear arms means to have them with you and carry them.
These bans are unconstitutional and have no bearing in reality.
Rubym, the SCOTUS is not deciding things for us. They are protecting the rights we already have that are being infringed upon by certain local and state governments. There may be state's rights, but the Constitution is still the supreme law of the land.

Constitutionally, there is a right to bear arms and I would never want the rights of law abiding, sane people, who know how to handle guns taken away. I don't know about bans or anything or where they are.
On the other hand, I wouldn't touch a gun 'if my life depended on it.' Frankly, if owning a gun were the 'law', I might be a an outlaw, because I hate guns.
But one thing I find ironic, and I'm just saying; but often the strongest proponents of gun use and ownership are the last to want the Supreme Court to decide anything for them, over state's rights. Like I say, I just happened to notice that.

Yes, the Bill Of Rights applies to all government, not just the Federal Government. That the liberties guaranteed by the Constitution don't apply in Chicago is just plain liberal stupidity. What will the Liberals say when the conservatives take over the city of New York and then outlaw abortion in that city? They will howl loud enough to be heard on the moon. And that is where this is leading. What goes around always comes around.

Yes. Law abiding citizens should...MUST have the right to own a gun. I don't own any but that's my choice. Well, those who do want then should also have that choice. The courts who put bans on gun ownership spend to damn much time worrying about the wrong guy.
