Keyboard English - Opinion Alert!?

This is a rhetorical question, laden with subjective perspective.

Anyone else object to the vilification of English seen here? "NE1 c my m8?" Oh, there *might* have been a place for cutesy creative shortcuts if you're typing with one finger on a cell phone, but if you're on a computer with a keyboard, isn't standard English adequate?

It is incumbent upon the person who is trying to communicate to make themselves understood.

It is not the job of the person READING to try to figure out what they are trying to impart.

That's just too difficult to read...I let them know that they are supposed to be using ENGLISH on this site...not textese.

I agree. It actually took me a moment to register what "NE1 c my m8?" means. That fact alone defeats the supposed purpose of such "shortcuts."
